True, but we should distinguish between a lift that raises (and
lowers) boats between 2 stretches of navigable water - definitely
a "boat lift" - and a crane ( or, perhaps, lift) that raises boats
and ships out of the water for repairs and maintenance - a "ship
lift".

The "boat lift" does not raise the boat out of the water, nor lower
it into the water. <br>
<br>
A crane can lift a boat/ship out of the water, or lower it into the
water. <br>
