Mausoleum surely can work for the Kasubi
tombs, as they contain complete human remains.

I am weighing options for the hundreds of
other examples, where the tombs don't contain human remains, or
just a bone. They still are tombs, but tombs that contain the
spirits, so I see them less favourable as being called
mausoleum. They can be tagged as historical, but serve many
other purposes as places of worship, tourist attraction,
memorials etc... but none of them really a good definition of
their primary purpose, a place where tribes keep the spirits of
their ancestors.

A bit like Christians
pray to the Holy spirit, to the cross, but then in a form that
can become materialised or is visual not by praying, but
through the artefacts, they are not just places of worship,
they are the homes of the spirits of ancestors which live into
eternity in those places until they are destroyed.

Difficult to explain Martin to other
cultures who don't consider a spirit as a human remain. Of
course it's not something materialised, but many tribes believe
they manifestate themselves through the traditional rituals that
are performed there or by meditation or through offerings, often
if they even have other religions, some of them are Christians,
others Moslem, Jews etc... but these tombs are separate from
those religions and the traditions linked to them. The spirits
remain in the multiple chambers of the tombs through the
artifcacts or in some cases parts of human remains that are kept
inside. Does something similar exist in other cultures /
religions that is already provided in OSM? If not I think it's
worth considering another tomb value for it.

Actually, the central Kasubi Tombs contain only the remains of the last 4 kings.

do you suggest we add a new tomb type, or maybe „mausoleum“ would fit from the proposed values?
Cheers Martin
