I am changing the Swiss hiking network page
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Switzerland/HikingNetwork trying to
resolve some confusion. See
http://lists.openstreetmap.ch/pipermail/talk-ch/2021-June/010972.html
One part is aimed at a source of conflict that came up from time to
time: The name tag on unnamed base network routes. Some mappers delete
the names because the segments do not have names. Others add a name to
every single relation in all of Switzerland. The Swiss base hiking
network has good directions signs, but the segments are not named.
(There are also named and numbered routes on top of the base network,
but not covering it).

But knowing the start and end of each segment (which was used as the
name) helps maintaining the hiking network. So the change will add the
from=* and to=* tags to the Swiss wiki page to map the start and end
place. That way, the name tag does not get misused, and the data is
still there for mappers to use for maintenance.

Have a nice day
Michael
