This tag is a much nicer solution than highway=service + access=no + bus=designated (thanks Mateusz, it is indeed not dedicated). A bus station is a dedicated place for busses so it makes sense to also tag it with highway=busway. Then you also have the emergency
access settle at once.</div>

Why keep two taggings schemes in place for the same thing when highway=busway is a nice, one tag solution that makes it clear where that road is used for.</div>

<div class="PlainText">My understanding is that highway=busway is for roadways DEDICATED TO buses (and only buses). Indeed, our wiki calls this "a dedicated roadway for bus rapid transit systems." Although (as Clay says) the tag also designates roadways "of
high importance to bus passengers" by re-stating what is said in our wiki:<br>

(highway=busway is) "applied to carriageways that maintain a high level of importance specifically for bus passengers, but are not meant to be used by motorists, pedestrians, or cyclists. In other words, this tag should only apply to roadways used for passenger
transport."<br>

I know it's a bit pedantic to quote our wiki here on this list. However, I find Vincent's "two possible tagging schemes" as redundant with one another: it seems his #2 doesn't express any additional meaning than his #1. I'd stick with #1 only, as I find
#2 cumbersome, redundant and incorrect — busses DO have access.<br>

Besides, highway=busway isn't a "new tag," it's been around for many years, even if its wiki page hasn't.<br>

I see a lot of roads which are part of bus stations beeing re-tagged to highway=busway which started a discussion.<br>
