<p>Hi Martin,</p>
<p>thanks for your reply. The reduced combination of tags was my
first thought, but the life cycle ones were suggested and they do
make sense as well, but maybe they would be better pursued in a
proposal for working creameries/ butter factories.</p>
<p>I think I will follow the established tag for brewery
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Brewery">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Brewery</a>) which is <font
face="Courier New, Courier, monospace">building=brewery</font>;
I think there are parallels to be drawn.</p>
<p>So it will be building=creamery + historic=creamery. <br>
</p>

<div>You are proposing several tags to describe the nature: <br>

<div><br>
</div>
<div>
<table class="gmail-wikitable">
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>building=industrial</td>
<td><br>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>disused:man_made=works<br>
disused:product=dairy</td>
<td><br>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>historic=creamery<br>
<br>
<br>
I would go with historic=creamery (together with
building=* or on the grounds) and not add
disused:man_made=works and disused:product=dairy,
these seem redundant and not able to tell that it is
about a historic creamery.<br>
<br>
building=industrial IMHO is too generic. It is like
building=residential, people are using it, but more
specific values like house, villa, apartments, duplex,
detached etc. are preferable.<br>
For example we could distinguish production and
storage buildings, we might also be able to identify
more specific subtypes for production places, e.g.
foundry, assembly hall, etc.<br>
<br>
For a creamery, building=creamery seems suitable,
especially if these are of a distinguishable building
type of course.<br>
<br>
Cheers,<br>
