<div dir="ltr">As OSM is a spatial database, my strong preference would be a spatial relationship, i.e. map a compressed air machine as a point/polygon sat within the boundary of a petrol station. Search within the petrol station boundary for related objects. No relation specified. No separate object defined as an attribute of a parent object. No separate object indicated as being separate as an attribute of a parent object..... IMHO, sidewalk=separate was a bit of a kludge to accommodate 2 widespread and fundamental mapping styles and shouldn't be perpetuated lightly.</div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Thu, Jan 20, 2022 at 7:29 PM Paul Johnson <<a href="mailto:baloo@ursamundi.org">baloo@ursamundi.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><br></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Mon, Dec 13, 2021 at 7:44 AM Robin Burek <<a href="mailto:robin.burek@gmx.de" target="_blank">robin.burek@gmx.de</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">"<a href="mailto:osm.tagging@thorsten.engler.id.au" target="_blank">osm.tagging@thorsten.engler.id.au</a>" <a href="mailto:osm.tagging@thorsten.engler.id.au" target="_blank">osm.tagging@thorsten.engler.id.au</a> – 13. +1<br>
Or: we start to think more with relations. Then we could connect the amenities direct - so that there is also the information WICH element is connected with "seperate"....<br></blockquote><div><br></div><div>This would be my strong preference. </div></div></div>
