Dear all,<br>
<br>
I would like to ask 2 questions related to international names on OSM:<br>

<li>Is there any clear guidance on the reference body used for international names? On OSM there is an int_name=* tag which is described on the wiki as following:<br>
<br>
<b>int_name</b> <i>User defined node way area</i> International name (note: consider using language specific names instead; e.g., name:en=... - see above – International does not (necessarily) mean English).<br>
<br>
There are currently <a href="https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/int_name" title="https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/int_name">583 691 OSM objects</a> with such tag according to TagInfo<br>
<br>
</li><li>If the UN headquarters would like share authoritative names on OSM in the 6 UN official languages would <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><b>name:UN:ar, </b><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><b>name:UN:zh, </b><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><b>name:UN:en, </b><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><b>name:UN:fr, </b><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><b>name:UN:ru,
name:UN:es</b> do the job?<br>
</span></span></span></span></span><br>
According to TagInfo, there are currently 44 name:UN and 14 name:UN:*, not many.<br>
<br>
If this would be the solution, shall we document this naming on <a href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Multilingual_names" id="LPNoLPOWALinkPreview">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Multilingual_names</a><span style=""> as a specific entry, especially
stating that, as being open data, it couldn't be trusted 100% at any time? Obviously, we will keep an eye on this tag if we decide to go ahead with it.<br>
Also, what would be the right procedure for us to follow to have those on OSM?</span></li></ul>
<div><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important;"><br>
name:UN:* or int_name would be beneficial for all UN entities and agencies, funds and programs using OSM to ingest UN authoritative names in their products.<br>
</span></span></span></span></span>
