<p>The wiki's supposed to document how tags are used in
OpenStreetMap. Currently
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:diplomatic">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:diplomatic</a> covers both
what you changed things _from_ and what you changed things _to_.</p>
<p>It also suggests that "diplomatic" isn't a top-level tag ("In
conjunction with <tt dir="ltr" class="mw-content-ltr"
style="background:#EEF;font-size:1em;line-height:1.6"><bdi
style="white-space:nowrap"><a
href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:office"
title="Key:office">office</a></bdi>=<a
href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:office%3Ddiplomatic"
title="Tag:office=diplomatic"><bdi>diplomatic</bdi></a></tt>,
this key helps...), whereas
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/office%3Ddiplomatic">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/office%3Ddiplomatic</a>
says "Elevation of <tt dir="ltr" class="mw-content-ltr"
style="background:#EEF;font-size:1em;line-height:1.6"><bdi
style="white-space:nowrap"><a
href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:diplomatic"
title="Key:diplomatic">diplomatic</a></bdi>=*</tt> to
primary tag status".</p>
<p><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:diplomatic">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:diplomatic</a> contains lots
of tags listed as "in_use" where "This tag does not appear in the
OSM database".</p>
<p>An example of an "old" page is
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:diplomatic%3Dhigh_commission">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:diplomatic%3Dhigh_commission</a>
. It reads like proper documentation. An example of a new page
is
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:embassy%3Dhigh_commission">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:embassy%3Dhigh_commission</a>
, which does not. If someone unfamiliar with the history was to
look at the wiki, they may well pick the "old" scheme because it
looks better documented.<br>
</p>
<p><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:consulate">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:consulate</a> suggests
"Requires office=diplomatic and diplomatic=consulate on a node".
I don't know if you think that that is supposed to be true or not,
but it's not how I read the proposal.</p>
<p>The dead link to honorary_consulate seems to have been fixed -
thanks to whoever did that.</p>
<p>Best Regards,</p>
