Steve
There's a fair few ways that have not been tagged with a highway tag in those areas. Streets will only get rendered if they have a recognised tag like highway=unclassified or something.

Also, the tiles@home
rendering farm is suspended at present while the database is being reorganised. Once it restarts, in the next day or so, there will be a backlog of tiles to upload, so it could be three or four days from now before tiles@home
is running normally again (depending on how much of an improvement the database reorganisation makes to performance).

If you want to get some quicker rendering of your work its quite easy to install and run Osmarender locally. You can see results within a few minutes if you do that.

Hello,

I suppose an intro would be appropriate first.
I live in Queanbeyan and "discovered" OSM a couple of weeks ago. I
started mapping over a week ago. I have previously submitted tracks,
etc, to other mapping efforts such as T4A but the concept of actually
creating and fixing maps yourself has me very interested. OSM seems just
about perfect.

Anyway, for just about a whole week I have been doing streets around
Queanbeyan, Oaks Estate, Captains Flat, Jerrabomberra and Bungendore.
Why aren't they rendered on the main map?

I've gone to that site where you zoom to level 12 and do a ctrl-click,
I've done it with tiles@home direct selected. I've waited until after
the Wednesday render to get worried. I've cleared Firefox caches.
Nothing.

Well, not completely true. I can see some of my additions if I go to
some zoom levels, with bits missing. At other zoom levels I see nothing
at all. Very frustrating as I don't want to put heaps of effort into
this if it's a bit flakey in the backend!.

All my additions seem to be OK if I go into edit mode.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong here?

Please give me reason to stay positive as I think OSM is fantastic and
will be contributing for years if it works properly!

Thanks in advance,

Steve.

_______________________________________________
Talk-au mailing list
