Hi Bob

That would be more of less consistent with the State Strategic Tourism Route that runs through our town. There is an official network of these "drive tourism" routes that criss crosses Queensland, and almost all the Queensland A roads have tourist route alternates. There is a map of them in this PDF from TMR

https://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/~/media/communityandenvironment/touristservicesigns/driving-experiences.pdf

They also all have route designators, e.g. AW for adventure way, although adding that might be of limited benefit is it is not signposted as AW. Some however are signposted very well. Notionally the Adventure Way runs west from Brisbane, along with the Warrego Way to Dalby, but west of Brisbane the Warrego Higway is mostly signposted with the alternate name Darren Lockyer Way. If you were going to be consistent with our local route (ACW) - well signposted around here - you would add AU:QLD:SSTR:AW

Cheers

On Tue, 17 Sept 2024 at 19:42, Bob Cameron <bob3bob3@skymesh.com.au> wrote:

Well I can quite rightly say I have travelled most of the
Savannah Way, which is a smarty way of saying >50% (haha) Some
of the dirt sections are actually quite good, when they aren't
wet!

The use of alt_name for "State Strategic Touring Routes in
Queensland" brings up another conflict of sorts. Pretty sure our
guidelines say that a town "main street" that is often also a
primary/highway is to be the "main" name and the primary/highway
is the alt. The main street of (say) Eulo then would have two
alternates.

This also worth a look as it pretty well explains them
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Strategic_Touring_Routes_in_Queensland
I guess the right way would eventually be a set of relations for
tourism like routes, but it is a lot of work.

Have "fixed" Innamincka Road misnaming. I am actually wondering
if I created the problem in the first place! Unless I see SSTR
naming as a "main" name elsewhere I wont alter anything.
Sorry Bob .. no real idea of 'what to do'
But I have another one - the Savannah Way .. Qld to WA .. various
ways carry the name .. and at least one relation looks to be along
the Savannah Way - Relation: 1 (197627)
https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/197627#map=13/-17.24558/138.00940
... I don't think this is 'highway 1' .. out through Hells Gate
yet it is tagged as such... most would need a 4WD to use the
western end of it..
