Hi,

I have been doing some mapping in the harbour area of Antwerpen recently.

The 'havenbedrijf' probably has a quite large autonomy in how they 'arrange' the area within their exploitation zone, and how they give concessions to companies.

Muisbroeklaan exists, but at a certain point it enters a private concession where access is restricted. Have mapped it from that side, but have to try to do it from the other side soon.

As a result some 'streets' are within private concessions, others have disappeared, others have restricted access.

Also some bridges that do exist are permanent out of use (Asiabrug, connecting 2 parts of 'Spitsenstraat' along the Asiadok, a bridge over the entrance of Kempisch Dok) I mapped both with 'access = no'. Petroleumbrug was open all the time for the last years, and now has been taken away.

For harbour safety also a lot of streets are now in the 'restricted area'. There are for instance quite some 'streets' in between Vosseschijnstraat and Derde Havendok / Albertdok, but they have all restricted access. Googling missing streetnames however often comes up with company details of businesses located / having their address within the restricted area.

In gereral also a lot of streets are missing streetname signs.

The harbour administration (Haven van Antwerpen) however must have most or all detailed information. Did anyone already contact them to ask if the info might be available in a usable form for OSM? I am thinking about doing that, but if it has been asked before it would be useless.

Another question, when can one conclude that 'a street has disappeared' when it is still in the streetname list and one can not use copyrighted maps to check where it 'should be'?

Luc / Speedy
