Hi all,

Here is the final scheme for the mapping party on Sunday April 18.

- 9u45am till 10am: for people who like that, we gather at the railway station of Deinze. This is not explicitly necessary: I have made a cake diagram, so people who prefer that can start at another moment can just pick their piece and go on the road. Here you can take a peek at it: http://maps.google.be/maps/ms?hl=nl&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=115156197198343391457.0004820fe7d0e9e1e145b&ll=51.007598,3.552532&spn=0.063187,0.177326&z=13.
Of course they should tell me well ahead about their plans to avoid double work! Some pieces are more fit for exploration by bike: e.g. Petegem aan de Leie has a lot typical bike short-cuts (not on google maps of course) Other stuff can be done by car - more rural areas - but personal I prefer doing everything by bike. I hope that every-one brings his own bike! I also experimented with export of the cake diagram: you can find the result on http://users.edpnet.be/kknecht/gmapsupp.img (for garmin) and http://users.edpnet.be/kknecht/deinze.osm contains roughly the same data but via GPS babel you can export it yourself to your own preferred format.

- 10am till 1pm: we go on the road!

- 1pm-2pm: we have lunch, since we do the data processing at the de Ceder (a bit outside of the center in Astene (Parijsestraat), we might as well gather there. In the cafe there you can only get drinks there so why not bring your own lunch package? We can talk a bit and make sure we don't start thirsty :-)

- 2pm-5pm: hide behind the computer screens: please try to bring your own laptop!

It would very nice if every-one willing to join, sends me an email to confirm, with some info on how they think to get in Deinze and how to explore the area. Do you have a laptop? May be I can split the cake in more pieces do more accurate sub-division? Planning is everything! Please, also give me feedback about the planning: I rather prefer it now then to here you complaining on the day itself!
I would have liked to get hold of the trackers which are managed by OSM belgium but although I have asked twice and offer to pick theme up, I did not any reaction. A pity: some people are willing to join but have no tracker! Ivo?

Best,

Kenny
