That would work for your case (different names in different cities/villages), but it won't work for mine (agreed, it's a very weird case).<br><br>But I guess you also want a way to note which way is in which city/village.<br>
<br>Maybe mapping the complete street (including all houses with a complete set of address tags) is the only solution to achieve this. <br><br>Or we could see both examples as different cases and use one tagging schema if they are in different cities and the other if they are in the same city. After all, these are two different reasons why a street might have two names.<br>

I'm not in favour of this. Since the road, at least mine in Ypres, is a road with just one lane, where you can go where you want. It would be the same like splitting buildings because there are more than one shop in it, instead of using POI to note the shops in the building. Splitting ways will cause weird rendering problems and routing problems. What we need is a tagging schema to allow double names. Maybe something like<br>

Is using <a href="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:name?uselang=nl" title="De wikipagina die het label name beschrijft" target="_blank">name</a> = lessensestraat-rekestraat ok? I guess not?<br>
