this map of mine</a> </span></span>, you can see GSM
antennas, often on water towers, Lidl shops, Blood donation
centers, other shops, all data that I ripped off from various
places. Add churches, phone exchanges, phone numbers maybe etc.
and you have things to map for themselves in the first place and
that can be a hint later that people are living nearby. Just 2 €¢.<br>

Wouldn't it be interesting to organize a mapping party in one of
these locations, after preparation and contact with local people,
perhaps the tourist authorities, to let them know that, with their
help, we plan to come and map better their locality ?<br>

I e-mailed our Administration Communale <a
href="http://hiking.waymarkedtrails.org/en/?zoom=12&lat=50.51952&lon=5.66193&base=0.72&route=0.74">to
show them their hiking tours</a> that I've traced (SPx, zoom-in),
as well as the certainly not sparse nice map of our village whose
I'm the principal author, and to request the SP3 route I'm missing.<br>
All I've <span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span

lots of panels posted in our streets with all their faces
laughing at me ;-)<br>

I've shown this map</a> (again) (<a
href="http://www.papou.byethost9.com/maps/OpenLayers_Vector_full.html">full
backgrounds</a>) to several people involved like the Red
Cross. No answer.<br>
(Look at the HTML source code and see how simple and easy it
is).<br>
I think they did not understand, or maybe had no time to.<br>
<br>
On the other hand, I've shown how OSM works to a few persons.<br>
A number really got keen on maps or mapping.<br>
For example one who bought a Garmin GPS as I suggested and was
amazed to store OSM converted maps on it, including paths he had
added to OSM himself to complete hiking routes.<br>
<br>
To face Googlemaps, we need to make more adepts who can add <b>reliable
data</b> and practical applications or demos to show. Tourism
is a nice field to start with. Wouldn't the federal services be
a better door to knock at than local Adm? <br>
