</div>For what it's worth, I did change some from hiking to foot, but that was<br>
before the discussion took place, and never systematically. If I happened to<br>
encounter one I'd change it if I had to edit it. Of course, many were tagged<br>
with foot since I mapped them myself, and the wiki page about the conventions<br>
(which I wrote myself...) always had "foot" as the used tag. After the<br>
discussion I haven't touched those.<br></blockquote><div><br></div><div>Before that vote I used whatever was in the route relation that I used as a template. I launched the vote in order to try and please Ivo. He seemed so adamant that hiking was the tag to use, mostly because that's the tag Potlatch defaults to and because he claimed that is what is used internationally. After the vote I was planning to change the wiki and the all the foot/hiking/walking relations going across Belgium. This would have had an influence on a few relations going across the border into France, The Netherlands and Germany, so I felt obliged to notifiy them. This gave some resistance with German mappers who didn't agree with it, as far as the short distance ones were concerned (lwn and rwn).</div>
<div><br></div><div>So I changed my mind, didn't edit the wiki page and now I'm changing all the rwn routes I touch and create to route=foot. It's the right tag to use, and to the point, as most people are not using those routes to 'hike', backpack and all, but rather to make a walk on foot.</div>

I left a bad impression on some people in some discussions. I'm a bit stubborn<br>
on some issues, but I'm a very friendly person really :-)</blockquote><div><br></div><div>I think his bile was rather more directed to me... So don't worry, we all try to make the best of it. Unfortunately it's impossible not to step on some people's toes in the process.</div>
