<html><head></head><body bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><div>I think there is more than a small difference, but that's up to the municipality where they are used.</div><div>For example in Oud- Turnhout these were installed to measure heavy traffic (that's forbidden in the centre), but an added bonus was that they could also do speed measurements over a distance (trajectcontrole) and also matching numberplates.</div><div>That there wasn't a 'koninklijk besluit' for trajectcontrole (and no law that defined how to calibrate them) was no problem. Thousands of tickets were issued...</div><div>So now around Turnhout you have lots of these camera's, some do only numberplates, some are used for speed checks and some are used for heavy weight checks. We have more of those than the usual money makers alongside
the roads. For the record, they digitalise license plates
and match them against a database of vehicles with 'issues'
(stolen, road tax unpaid, etc ).<br>
<br>
The only thing they don't do is record speeding, so taggin
it highway=speed_camera is useless.<br>
