<div dir="ltr">Apparently, the tag historic=monument is used incorrectly in a lot of cases.<div style>According to <a href="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/CheckTheMonuments">http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/CheckTheMonuments</a> (in German) and the OSM definition, it should only be used if the following conditions are fulfilled:</div>

<div style><br></div><div style>a) a large construction (e.g. a building)</div><div style>b) you should be able to walk in/on/through it</div><div style>c) dedicated to a person or an event</div><div style><br></div><div style>

this means that we won't have many monuments in Belgium, and we should retag them. Some examples (also see <a href="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/CheckTheMonuments">http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/CheckTheMonuments</a> for more examples)</div>

<div style><br></div><div style>a) for smaller items remembering persons: historic=memorial</div><div style>b) any other historic tag, such as building, yes, tank, castle,...</div><div style>c) man_made=windmill, watermill and historic=yes</div>

<div style>d) for items protected by the government: heritage=4 + additional tags.</div><div style><br></div><div style>Using <a href="http://geschichtskarten.openstreetmap.de/monuments">http://geschichtskarten.openstreetmap.de/monuments</a> I have been retagging some objects, and will continue to do so, but sometimes I have no idea what the item is. Maybe there is someone interested in this material that wants to do this too ?</div>

<div style><br></div><div style>a) een grote constructie (bv. een gebouw)</div><div style>b) je moet er in/op/door kunnen wandelen</div><div style>c) het moet opgericht zijn te nagedachtenis van een persoon of een gebeurtenis.</div>

<div style><br></div><div style>a) kleinere objecten ter nagedachtenis van persoon/gebeurtenis: historic=memorial</div><div style>b) andere waarden voor de historic tag zoals yes, building, tank, castle, ...</div><div style>

c) voor "beschermde monumenten" heritage=4 + verdere beschrijving van het item</div><div style>   hiervoor kan je ook de BENELUX presets voor JOSM gebruiken</div><div style>d) man_made=windmill, watermill, ...</div>

<div style><br></div><div style>Je vindt alle historic monumenten op <a href="http://geschichtskarten.openstreetmap.de/monuments">http://geschichtskarten.openstreetmap.de/monuments</a> , op het hoogste zoomniveau zie je enkel aantallen, bij het inzoomen zie je de individuele items. De voorbije dagen heb ik er al een aantal gewijzigd, maar soms is er gewoon te weinig informatie om te weten hoe het moet gecorrigeerd worden. Dus als je niet weet wat doen op deze regenachtige, herfstige meidag ... Kijk eens of er bij jouw in de buurt geen "monumenten" staan.</div>
