Hi,<br>
<br>
I was wondering what's the correct use of the 'is_in'-tag in Belgium
(or Flanders in particular).<br>
When I search on openstreetmap.org for cities, I sometimes see the
detail it is in 'European Union'. <br>
<br>
For example, my own city Lier has following search result: "
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;
charset=ISO-8859-1">
Stadsgrens <font color="#000000"><a
href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/?minlon=4.50586080551147&minlat=51.0726852416992&maxlon=4.64306163787842&maxlat=51.1657829284668"
class="set_position" data-id="964259" data-lat="51.131069"
data-lon="4.5696516" data-max-lat="51.1657829284668"
data-max-lon="4.64306163787842" data-min-lat="51.0726852416992"
data-min-lon="4.50586080551147" data-name="Lier, Mechelen,
Antwerpen, Vlaanderen, België, European Union"
data-prefix="Stadsgrens" data-type="relation">Lier, Mechelen,
Antwerpen, Vlaanderen, België, European Union"</a><br>
When I search for city Duffel:</font> "Stadsgrens <a
href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/?minlon=4.46484470367432&minlat=51.0725708007812&maxlon=4.57519102096558&maxlat=51.1169281005859"
class="set_position" data-id="964195" data-lat="51.0957176"
data-lon="4.5061988" data-max-lat="51.1169281005859"
data-max-lon="4.57519102096558" data-min-lat="51.0725708007812"
data-min-lon="4.46484470367432" data-name="Duffel, Mechelen,
Antwerpen, Vlaanderen, België" data-prefix="Stadsgrens"
data-type="relation">Duffel, Mechelen, Antwerpen, Vlaanderen,
België"</a><br>
<br>
As you can see, Lier is tagged correctly it is in the EU, Duffel
isn't. There are multiple other examples (Oostmalle, Zandhoven, ...)<br>
<br>
When I compare the tags:<br>
<br>
For Duffel

<p>vs for Lier (<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/30997655">http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/30997655</a>)</p>

title="De wikipagina die het label name beschrijft">name</a> =
Lier</li>
<li>+ some OpenGeoDB-tags (see links below)<br>
</li>
</ul>
As you can see for the Duffel-node, I tried to fix it by taking the
is_in tags from Lier as example (instead of all those double tags
like Mechelen,Mechelen,Antwerpen,Antwerpen, ...).<br>
<br>
Another thing to mention is: what language to use for those tags?
Belgium, Belgique, België? Antwerp, Anvers, Antwerpen ...? etc etc.<br>
I found this wiki <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:is_in">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:is_in</a> ,
but based on those examples I'm still not sure how to tag it
correctly.<br>
<br>
Thanks in advance.<br>
<br>
Kind regards,<br>
Joren<br>
