This is quite an interesting page. I see plenty of people using
bing to put houses on the map but I really hate it when I noticed
they used the deepest zoomlevel (the one that is offset) . This
sure helps visualising this. I grabbed it from a post in the
general mailing list.

Great find, great post.<br>
First, I'm glad to find a sort of official confirmation that
comparing two maps to use the open one better is allowed. Belgian
maps are, of course, not included but let's whisper in our ears that
overlaying maps in JOSM does the same.<br>
Second, I'm glad to hear you speak (or "read you write" to save you
a trip to the door) of Bing in the same terms as I do. I warned
many times and I'm really fed up having to offset other people's
mapping.<br>
Indeed Bing exhibits a substantial offset, and that's frustratingly
at high zoom, and moreover that's depending on location !!!<br>
I use a JOSM correction offsets (according to location) when I'm not
absent minded.<br>
The simplest way to bulk map with Bing, or to correct other people's
work, is to map with an offset, select everything, zoom out and
shift the lot to the correct location (or do it "like above").<br>
<br>
I had in mind to make extensive offset tests of different maps and
maybe post the results.<br>
The first in line would be Marc's find below.<br>
To the best of my eyesight, it's Bing in WMS and the first question
is, of course, is it offset-ill?<br>
Believe it or not, I didn't have time to investigate yet :-(<br>
You might have a look and, if it's sane, start a Bing removal
campaign :-)<br>
<br>
Cheers,<br>

<div>Effective immediately the Mapbox Satellite option in iD
and JOSM is 100% open for tracing in OpenStreetMap,
including all our high resolution DigitalGlobe imagery.
This is full coverage down to zoom level 19 imagery in the
US + Western Europe and world wide to zoom level 17.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>To use this imagery select "Mapbox Satellite" from the
imagery menu in iD on the web or in JOSM. Mapbox Satellite
is open for tracing in OpenStreetMap in general and not
tied to a specific editor, so if you would like to add
Mapbox Satellite to another OpenStreetMap editor you are
welcome to do so.</div>

<div>Big props to Kevin Bullock (cc'ed) and our friends at
DigitalGlobe - it's fantastic working with good people who
see wins of working with OpenStreetMap.</div>
