Yes, the ways are not connected if you mean, like tooth-picks. All geobase ways are like that. .... (erm... and canvec roads :) )<div><br></div><div>Here's my stance on this issue.</div><div><br></div><div>Our plan is to make the most detailed and technically accurate map of the world.</div>
<div>Until individuals actually place GPS tracks, knowone will no for certain if these roads exist. And these roads always need to be updated.</div><div><br></div><div>If you happen to be on that road, you will notice powerlines, and telephone cables & stop signs. .. and fences... and property lines (not visable, but noticeable if you get noticed as tresspassing). .. also usually there are physical stakes in the ground to mark property boundries, (so i dont know what im talking about) :-)</div>
<div><br></div><div>So overall, the next stage is to be showing all these details. </div><div><br></div><div>As far as rendering, we can teach the renderer. Did you notice that one of the tags are ..</div><div><br></div>
<div><div>#L_HNUMF,N,10,0<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><div>#Name <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>First house number left</div><div>#Definition <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>The first house number address value along a particular side (left or right)</div>

<div>line,R_HNUML,,canvec:R_HNUML,-</div><div>line,R_HNUML,,addr:housenumber:last:right,-</div><div>#</div><div><br></div><div>So we have the listings of the house numbers. :-) (at least in the provinces who contributed to the club)</div>
<div><br></div><div>Im right now fixing the script and will make another test area once the wiki chart is complete.</div></div></div><div><br></div><div>This is NOT offset, like we previously discussed, but its does help, as all the details are stored in the same way. (I dont have a problem with the first/last address listed on the same way as the road.) ... i WOULD have a problem with EVERY address listed on the way of the road.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Fortunately, we have those COOL building=yes, where it helps. .. and perhaps someday we will get the propoerty boundries imported.. then each boundary area could have it's addr:number tag.</div><div>
<br></div><div>The point is to make it searchable right?? So if the supercomputer can search for a specific address, the result would be a point in the relative middlish of the road. Until every house is listed, the super computer would just have to guess.</div>

Therefore, it means that lines are not connected to each other. At intersections, it is important to share the same node. <br><br>Hi all,<div>Yupee,</div><div>I got the sample area saved (not yet posted to OSM) of Tofino, BC</div><div>You can view the zip file containing the .OSM files.</div><div><a href="http://sites.google.com/a/acrosscanadatrails.com/www/Home/canvec2osmsamplearea092f04tofinoBC.zip" target="_blank">http://sites.google.com/a/acrosscanadatrails.com/www/Home/canvec2osmsamplearea092f04tofinoBC.zip</a> <br>
</div><div><br></div><div>The addition of the CanVec Roads looks good, so far. But (of course) would need to be fixed up.</div><div>I compared the geobase2osm roads, and i see that i have included a few more tags that were not included in the geobase2osm script.</div>
<div><br></div><div>For now the rules.txt file is available in the same place.</div><div><a href="http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=d2d8mrd_179gnhs54cw&hl=en" target="_blank">http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=d2d8mrd_179gnhs54cw&hl=en</a><br>
</div><div><br></div><div>I'm now working on the wiki chart, to show all of the tags that i use. ... in the next few days it should be done. :-)</div><div><br></div><div>... i found this way (adding it to canvec2osm) rather than creating the canvecROADS2osm script seemed to be easier. Didn't take much longer to run the script.</div>
<div><br></div><div>For those who can read the rules.txt file let me know if you see any errors. (even if i already spot them, it's good to confirm what the right tags should be.</div><div><br></div><div>And Steve, my plan is still to wait till you run the geobase2osm script (unfortunatly i dont know how too),,, before loading any of the canvec data on top. If you have a chance, please let me know if it would be fine to be importing the data for .. those areas of </div>
<div>very very little to know OSM data.?? .</div><div><br></div><div>And everyone,.. since the geobase2osm script would detect that canvecROADS were already imported, it would look at them the same way as user created OSM Roads.???</div>
<div><br></div><div>Thought on that anyone?</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers,</div><div>Sam Vekemans</div><font color="#888888"><div>Across Canada Trails</div>
