Hi everyone,
As always, I'm just about ready to launch canvec2osm out of beta. .. but as always it needs some more fine tuning.

But anyway, it seems that there is lots of activity all over the country! Great Job Everyone!

The end of the year is fast approaching (although it's the middle of the summer).. My goal is to get this GeoBase Roads Network in as well as all the CanVec and GeoBaseNHN data in by the end of this year.
... a daunting task at times, but with the help of just a few people, and a great coordinated effort. It'll be possible to do.

For now, (by the end of August) my goal is to import all of the CanVec data, and all of the geobase NHN data for the Vancouver Island Area. And (hopefully) we'll get the road network in just as fast. :)

Earlier I suggested that we use the GoogleDocs Chart to keep track of what has been uploaded. Considering how big the area is, the WikiChart is not capable of handling the 3,000 tiles where each tile would have a different quality and status of import. As new material become available, we need a local place for this all the be tracked.

So, if there are no objections, I'll begin the process of making this google docs chart, showing the status of the CanVec import. And I might also incorporate both the GeoBaseNRN road network status, as well as the GeoBaseNHN status, so it's all on the same place. (the aim is for the end of this month August to have it ready)

And finally, on August 11th (next week) is the Victoria mapping party, I hope to see whoever can attend. And if anyone wants to attend via GoogleTalk, it might be possible to attend remotely (we can try it at least) :)

Oh ya, I'm keeping track of trail activity across the country, great job everyone :-)

Cheers,
Sam Vekemans
Across Canada Trails

Twitter: @Acrosscanada
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/sam.vekemans
