<div dir="ltr">The Ontario Geographic Names Board is only responsible for naming unincorporated places and natural features.<div><br></div><div>Street names are under the jurisdiction of the municipalities in Ontario, so in the case of Ottawa (a single tier municipality) the City decides what the proper format is.  If the City decides that it will display rue, ave, etc. as lowercase, then that's the proper way, regardless of what Quebec's language authority says or the Académie française says.  The Ottawa data shows the street type being lowercase as do the street signs, so I would say that's pretty definitive of the street's proper name.</div><div class="gmail_extra"><br clear="all"><div><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature">-Kevin Farrugia<br><a href="mailto:kevinfarrugia@gmail.com" target="_blank">kevinfarrugia@gmail.com</a></div></div>

Des fois, les municipalités font des erreurs d'affichage. J'imagine que<br>
l'Ontario a une règle semblable. Ceci dit, peut-être qu'il faudrait<br>
demander au Ontario Geographic Names Board. Ça semble être l'organisme<br>
qui ressemble le plus à la Commission de Toponymie au Québec.<br>
