I think it's too urban a road, with urban speed limits along almost its entire length and many traffic lights. I definitely wouldn't consider the part of Yonge through downtown Toronto (or most of Toronto for that matter) to be Primary, with truck traffic banned and urban speed limits/road designs. Arguably the subway has lowered the importance of Yonge Street for cars/trucks. As for intercity travel, the 400-Series Highways have generally made travel using former King's Highways in the Golden Horseshoe a thing of the past (hence the download in the '90s), so being a former Provincial Highway is too simple of a definition, IMO.<div><br clear="none"></div><div>Some of those former King's Highways you mentioned in your email were tagged as Secondary from when they were first digitized until they were changed a year or so ago by one user, so they haven't always been like that and weren't really changed by consensus (thanks for the email, btw).</div><div><br clear="none"></div><div>My thoughts/opinion anyways...</div><div><br clear="none"></div><div>Cheers,<br clear="none"><div><br clear="none"></div><div>-Kevin<br clear="none"><br clear="none"></div></div></div><br clear="none"><div class="yiv5521758125gmail_quote"><div class="yiv5521758125yqt7399822178" id="yiv5521758125yqt75986"><div class="yiv5521758125gmail_attr" dir="ltr">On Thu, 16 Jul 2020 at 14:09, Justin Tracey <<a rel="nofollow" shape="rect" ymailto="mailto:j3tracey@gmail.com" target="_blank" href="mailto:j3tracey@gmail.com">j3tracey@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br clear="none"></div><blockquote class="yiv5521758125gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex;">

In Canada, highway=primary is typically used for what I would call
"highway-like" roads.[0] IMHO, Yonge is a "major" road, but has too
many cross streets to be really considered highway-like, at least
for most of its length. You can look at some of the other
highway=primary roads in the area to see a more typical
cross-traffic density. That said, I certainly wouldn't engage in an
edit war over it or anything.<br clear="none">
