<div dir="auto">These exit “names” I’ve been long seeing all around Ontario as well as parts of Quebec are map clutter, often duplicates those tagged as ramp destinations, and also creates a false impression these provinces have different tagging guidelines for highway exits from the rest of Canada as well as our neighbours stateside. Add to the problem is the usual Ontarian way of referring to exits as “[road name/destination] exit” instead of “exit [number]” due to historical factors (Ontario didn’t have exit numbering until around the late 90s); Québécois also has similar usage (being “la sortie [destination/road]” in French), so the thing in Ontario is also what I’m seeing in parts of Quebec (though Quebec has been long using exit numbers since the first autoroutes were built). Earlier in this thread, such “names” (take for example <span style="border-color:rgb(0,0,0)">“Highway 26/Bayfield Street exit” for Highway 400 exit 98 in Barrie) </span>has been considered a description and as such, references to those “names” should be all mopped up.</div><div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sun, Jul 4, 2021 at 12:44 PM John Whelan <<a href="mailto:jwhelan0112@gmail.com">jwhelan0112@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left-width:1px;border-left-style:solid;padding-left:1ex;border-left-color:rgb(204,204,204)">
