Para los que no se defienden muy bien en inglés, o les da pereza traducir en google les cuento:<br><br>Frederik Ramm es del Data Working Group de OpenStreetMap. Ellos también han detectado lo que conversamos hace un tiempo sobre los datos del usuario <a href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Caco0908">Caco0908</a>. Básicamente había la sospecha de que el usuario estaba copiando datos de otros mapas. Frederik nos cuenta que los mapas fueron copiados de Location World. Así que han hecho un "revert change" que básicamente quiere decir que todos los puntos agregados por el usuario han sido eliminados, independientemente de si se editaron luego por otros o no.<br>
<br>Esto yo ya me lo esperaba, y por eso les había comentado que no editen esos datos, pues seguro que los iban a borrar. Frederick termina su mail diciendo "nos duele tanto como a ustedes que los datos se eliminen del mapa, pero tenemos que mantenernos estrictamente apegados a la ley. Espero que esto no desanime a la comunidad ecuatoriana de OSM que está trabajando activamente".<br>

<br>1.- Look for clues that may indicate that the data comes from a different source than surveying (large edits, non-standard tags, etc.)<br><br>2.- Attempt to contact the user and set a deadline to proof his/her data is compatible with the OSM licence.<br>
<br>3.- Warn the community to not edit the data in question until the issue is closed.<br><br>4.- Seek for advice/support from OSM groups to delete data / revert changes.<br><br>Thanks for taking action, and don't worry: we'll keep good mapping.<br>

I am writing to you on behalf of OSM's Data Working Group. We deal with copyright violations.<br>

Earlier this month we have been made aware of striking similarities between OSM data in a number of cities (Ambato, Santo Domingo, Esmeraldas, Riobamba) and commercial data from a map provider called Location World.<br>
<br>
We have analysed these similarities and concluded that someone has uploaded copyrighted data from that source, on a large scale (roughly 10,000 ways and 50,000 nodes) to OSM in September 2010.<br>
<br>
The uploader has not responded to our attempts at contacting him.<br>
<br>
As I'm sure you know, we have to take these matters seriously. OSM can only thrive if stick to truly free data; we cannot import data from copyrighted sources.<br>
<br>
Therefore we are removing all the infringing content. Sadly, in some places others have edited the data after it had been uploaded; these edits are now also lost.<br>

I am sorry to have to bring you this message; we're all mappers here at the DWG and it hurts us as much as it hurts you to see data vanish from the map. But we have to stick to what's legal.
