[Talk-gb-midanglia] Hi

I will start the ball rolling by introducing myself:
I am steve8, based in Enfield, North London, and often lurking on IRC.
Quite peripheral geographically, but active in mapping areas of
Hertfordshire.
I am also what Richard Fairhurst amusingly labelled the "benevolent
dictator" for the mapnik stylesheet on the main slippy map. My
interpretation of this is that I am by far the most active person in
making changes to that style. So any suggestions on that front can
always be forwarded to me (preferably via trac) and I will try to
implement the ones that I think are sensible/appropriate.
There are a couple of places in the deep south that need some concerted
work - both in naming streets that have been added from Y!, and in
adding POIs. They are Harlow and Bishops Stortford, which would both
benefit from having mapping parties aimed at them. I would be happy to
coordinate, but may not have time in upcoming weeks, so feel free to
step up to the plate.
Am happy to come to Cambridge for a meetup - see separate email.
Cheers
STEVE

Subject: [Talk-gb-midanglia] Hi
Hi everyone,
I got this list set up, was waiting for a critical mass to sign up, but
then didn't get round to posting the things I meant to. There's 39 users
on the list now - that's pretty good for a fairly small area.
I notice we have two new contributors to the map in the last couple of
days - gnimmel has been making changes in the Gamlingay area
complementing the excellent work fluffhouse has been doing in mapping
that village; and burwellian has been doing a pass over Burwell (a
village I'd never given any attention to because it looked rather
complete, though I was never sure) and also some corrections in
Newmarket.
If people feel like it, I wonder whether you'd each like to introduce
yourselves to the others, just saying where and what kinds of things
you're working on.
I'll send out a series of messages shortly on various topics which could
do with with some thought (so they don't all end up as replies to this
topic): briefly - state of the local map; what to do next about Bury St
Edmunds; and Cambridge projects (houses, shops); another Cambridge
meet-up?
David
