Hi All, Graeme,

(All: If you worked on the National Memorial Arboretum, can you advise on what tags you used to add the memorial information to trees. Thanks).

You certainly can. When you open the map editor double click on the map to add a 'node' (a point) where the tree is. In the left hand pane you will then have to select the "advanced" tab at the bottom. This allows you to add any map feature that is not part of the 'simple' list.

All info is added as "Tags" which are in the form "key"="value". So once you have added a node and selected the "advanced" tab you will need to add "natural" in the key column and "tree" in the value column (without the quotation marks). You can then add the details about the memorial. If anyone can suggest a good tag for this (based on the NMA work) then please do.

If you feel really inclined to do so you can also add tags about the tree itself. See: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tree

Regards,
Rob

p.s Thanks for your contributions to Spon Street.
If they physically exist in the landscape then they are very welcome in OSM.
As Matt says, we did do some work at the NMA though we focused mainly on the
memorials. The trees (the man thousands of them) still mostly need mapping.

Cheers
