Subject: BSC Open Data Meeting<br><br><br><br>

<div>Hi Everyone,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The West Midlands has had a thriving open data community for some time. Our local government departments are exploring the potential use of open data to improve service provision. For example, in Birmingham, Digital Birmingham and the City Council have
approved an open data strategy at Cabinet level. The time is right for us to collectively explore how to get the most for our region. Following the discussion of this topic at our last Digital Working Group meeting, we would like to invite you as potential
users and providers of open data to a workshop to identify challenges to overcome in order to for us to get real value from this data; and to contribute to a business case for addressing them.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>During the meeting we would like you to begin to plot out and explore some of the key areas in which open data should be used; the type of data that is being made available; how and by whom it can/ should be used; and what we hope to gain from its use.
We also need to be mindful of the immensity of the open data agenda, so it’s essential that we start to define the parameters of what we want to do. By the end of the meet, we’d like you to be able to come away with new contacts as well as some ideas that
can turn into meaningful, realistic and scalable activities.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>We look forward to seeing you there.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>All the best</div>
