[Talk-GB] Future of Freemap

Hello everyone,
In order to improve performance I'm considering limiting the area of
coverage of Freemap to a well-mapped area of central southern England
covering Surrey, Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight (basically a
quadrangle, stretching from approximately Kingston on Thames down to the
Isle of Purbeck). I don't think my server space is quite up to either
dynamically generating, or statically storing, tiles for the whole of the
UK and I'd prefer to focus Freemap on a smaller and well-mapped area in
order to showcase what can be done with free countryside mapping using OSM
data.
In parallel we have some N95s at work for research purposes which
hopefully I can get my hands on, opening up the possibility of a mobile
Freemap application at some point.
If anyone from other areas of the UK have any real strong objections to
this, please let me know and I can see what I can do. Alternatively, I can
package up the Freemap software in an easy to install form so people can
install on their own servers if they want to provide Freemap for other
areas of the UK.
Nick
