I'd also be happy with water (even though I'm still slogging through
FHRS data)<br>
<br>
One thing which needs agreement is the tagging of areas of water,
especially the waterway banks:<br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Water_details">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Water_details</a><br>
This is appears to be the accepted method although a few do still
advocate:<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:waterway%3Driverbank">https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:waterway%3Driverbank</a><br>
<br>
In GB, riverbank outnumbers water=river greatly:<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org.uk/search?q=waterway%3Driverbank">http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org.uk/search?q=waterway%3Driverbank</a><br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org.uk/tags/water=river#overview">http://taginfo.openstreetmap.org.uk/tags/water=river#overview</a><br>
<br>
But I'm not convinced it's a valid reason not to improve the data.<br>
<br>
A forum discussion with some valid arguments:<br>

There are 15,825 ways tagged source=NPE + waterway=* and an
additional 23,146 with lowercase npe. So plenty based
originally on old data that can be improved upon.<br>

I will set up a tag script in the next few days to track
progress of source=NPE/npe + waterway=*. Any other things that
we should track via TagInfo?<br>
