<div dir="ltr"><div><div>Hi,<br><br></div>On a semi-related topic, I've noticed that one particular mapper has been using the name tag to include extra information in my area, usually in parentheses e.g. <a href="http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/pvI">http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/pvI</a><br><br></div>Am I right to think that this is generally frowned upon? Alt_name is used for an alternative *official* name, such as a
different spelling etc.<br>

In this case loc_name appears more appropriate to me.<br>

Possibly JOSM does. I used iD for this simple change. Whilst
alt_name does seem odd, so would loc_name, so I thought it
to be the better of two options.. If there's a consensus in
favour of changing I'll happily do so.<br>

which makes sense to me, because you provide an "alternative
