If the local highway authority has added new way markers along a different route, that suggests to me that they have amended the PRoW but perhaps have not (yet) amended the definitive statement/map. <p>On the subject of way marked routes, I would suggest adding
something along the lines of</p>
<p><i>Do not assume that because the local authority has waymarked
the route as part of a long distance or other route that it is a
public footpath. It could be a permissive path or go across
access land.</i></p>
<p>I have been fooled by this sort of thing in the past.<br>
