In addition I get a few building=apartments + name=FooBar which I would normally class as okay....or do people use building=apartments + addr:housename=FooBar ?<br><br>I notice that many mappers leave addr:city blank. I assume because they expect addresses to extrapolate it from the city boundaries + it saves space on the OSM databases? What do people think, should it be filled in for all addresses?<div><br></div><div>On suburbs: in practice i've found them used when there are 2 roads in the same city with the same name. Can be reasonably common with 'High Street' etc. and London probably throws up many. To disentangle name from addr:housename I have been using an Overpass script <a href="https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1fcj" target="_blank">
https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1fcj</a> to pick up buildings with a name tag but no amenity, shop or equivalent (it doesn’t pick up schools). Apart from name/addr:housename issues it also find buildings with an amenity name but no amenity tag.</div>

Looks like the object will need an addr:housename tag (even if this duplicates the name tag) for the tool to render the address. Whether this is considered tagging for the renderer I leave up to you.
