<div dir="ltr"><div>At least in places where I'm familiar: in towns yellow is a reasonable proxy for tertiary in OSM, but in the countryside it can represent a good wide 6-7.5 m road with a painted centre line or a road of 4 m or less with passing places. So AFAIK it neither represents road class nore road width. This <a href="http://sk53-osm.blogspot.com/2014/10/plantations-woods-forests-or-something.html" target="_blank">area</a> shows some of the issues when compared with OSM (Landyke Lane is very obviously highway=unclassified on the ground, has little through traffic, and no vehicles over 7.5 tonnes. There are plenty of other examples a little further N in the Vale of Belvoir.<br></div><div><br></div><div>I usually regard roads with a grey fill & black <a href="http://casing.as" target="_blank">casing.as</a> good proxies for hihgway=tertiary.</div><div><br></div><div>Blue, green, magenta and brown represent what one would expect (motorwa, trunk, primary & secondary in OSM terms).</div><div><br></div><div>In addition to the  legend, there is a lot of <a href="https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/business-government/tools-support/vectormap-local-support">technical gumph</a> about Cartographic stylesheets for the OS Local Vector data, and a quick glance at those suggests the tiled view is one of those styles. I think the key thing is that there are two types of unclassified roads - LocalRoad and MinorRoad - without any more formal detail. The former get a white fill, the latter yellow. It's just possible that these relate to MasterMap data types.</div><div><br></div><div>Jerry<br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sat, 10 Dec 2022 at 13:04, Dave F via Talk-GB <<a href="mailto:talk-gb@openstreetmap.org" target="_blank">talk-gb@openstreetmap.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">Hi<br>
