It's worth mentioning that the more modern, comfortable and efficient a
train service is - the less likely one is to get a decent GPS signal
inside it. Same problem as thermal-reflecting windscreens in cars. If
one can find a train old enough to have windows that open, and
suction-cup a GPS antenna to the outside - sorted!
Also trains running north-south are harder to get fixes in than ones
running east-west (the better view one has of the sky towards the
equator, the better).
Oh, if anyone has any questions or comments about the mapping party, by
