Hi Mappers,<br><br>It would be good if those who have local knowledge could correct those roads. Leaving incorrect data in OSM for long time will have detrimental effect to our effort. Many people raise questions of data quality in user-contributed data. It is difficult for them to accept that ordinary people can produce amazing maps. If those suspicious minds see these incorrect roads, it will only help them to spread mistrust about the whole dataset.<br>

yes, i have been tagging highway=motorway, for those roads which have 2 lanes and carry much traffic. i have checked these roads in google satellite images too. as per the common tags used, i thought this was the best tag to use. if someone feels otherwise, we should have a discussion on it. i shall revert them back for now.<div>
<br></div><div>and manoj, as initial part of MapKathmandu project, i have traced many roads referencing bing and google satellite image. i have also used the gps traces for accurate positions. I have tried to trace many roads in baluwatar area as we are doing a mapping party there on 13 oct saturday. these roads have been traced through satellite imagery only, so i agree that they are incorrect, and we plan to check and correct it during the mapping party. i would be very thankful if you could correct them <b>ASAP </b>as it would help the mapping event. I would also like to invite you to this event. the venue is Biruwa Ventures. we welcome every assistence.<div>

Would be great if amrit fixed it since he knows these roads better. <div><br></div><div>we do not use highway=motorway. Highway=trunk is the best we can go. Use of highway=tertiary is being considered/discussed. </div><div>

I've fixed some of them but he had tagged really a lot of roads with highway=motorway and, so before reverting more back, I wanted to ask, what sort of roads are to be tagged that way? I mean with highway=motorway? That isn't even included in the tags for roads of Nepal in the wiki (<a href="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nepal/Roads" target="_blank">http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nepal/Roads</a>)<div>
