<p class="MsoNormal">Adding to what Aaron said, every sign I¡¯ve seen replaced or newly installed this year (including the big green/blue road signs from Waka Kotahi / NZTA) all use the official spelling with macrons. These include signs towards significant
places like Whang¨¡rei, Taup¨, Ngongotah¨¡, Paek¨¡k¨¡riki, P¨¡uatahanui, and many more (the last two I saw on Instagram, not in person).</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I¡¯ve also seen local councils make a considerable effort to update signage (although I¡¯ve only visited Auckland, Wellington, and Taup¨ in the past year).
