<p>Another interesting question is that by next year, osm IDs will reach the upper bounds of 32bit unsigned integer. Some of the osm tools are not yet 64bit compliant. The devs are aware and we hope critical tools will be ready once we reach that limit which some projections will be by Feb 2013.</p>

Of course, not all of those registered members will contribute to the map. Only about 20% have ever edited anything on the map and there are currently only about 15,000 active users every month. But 1 million is such a nice round number so there's a bit of fanfare for this. :)<br>
