[Talk-ps] West Bank Import

Hi

We're seeking help with the import of JumpStart's map of the West Bank into OpenStreetMap proper.

In case you aren't aware, JumpStart have been leading mapping teams in the West Bank for the past six months. Their work is public domain, so a separate OSM instance was set up http://westbank.maps.jsintl.org/. Now that they're finishing, OSM can import this first complete, free and open map of the West Bank.

There's some technical and manual work to do. JS has been working in both the West Bank and Gaza, so need to filter out the Gaza data. ids in the West Bank planet files need to be changed to negatives, so JOSM knows they're new segments. And there's just some existing data in OSM in the West Bank .. probably the major roads and such can just be deleted, the Israeli settlements in OSM are not in the JS data, so would be good to retain those, etc.

Is anyone interested to help? We're trying to get this together in the next few days, in time perhaps for a launch at Where 2.0.

Thanks
Mikel
