<p>usually I am reading the talk, but am not replying very much,
because my Chinese is not sufficient.</p>
<p>But being in Taiwan more, then 10 years, I know that the English
names for the roads need to be worked on.</p>
<p>Taichung's Dalian Road had at times four or more different
English names.</p>
<p>A suggestion to use pinyin is quite good. That would allow those
foreigners, who know how to pronounce pinyin, to pronounce the
road names more correctly.<br>

<p>I would even suggest adding tone marks for the parts in Chinese.
I experienced that many local people, when asked, did not know a
road, for example ming zhi san duan xiang, even though it was just
around the corner.</p>

<p>However, the road names are a big and multilayered problem.
Changing signs is also expensive, and thus I can understand that
this issue needs a lot of thought. <br>

<p>An individual approach, to change names within OSM, according to
someone's preferences, doesn't help and will just add another
system to the confusion. It is important to think upon a solution
together with the community, government, and public authorities.<br>
