Uganda Bureau of Statistics as part of the census preparations is planning<br>
to execute a pilot household exercise in the 4 districts that<br>
include Kapelebyong, Butambala, Amuria, and Kitagwenda in the coming year.<br>
Early this year, HOT received a request from UBOS for support in acquiring<br>
buildings footprints and road datasets in the 4 districts that would assist<br>
them better plan and prepare for the exercise.<br>
<br>
In Septemeber Last year, Microsoft through its AI for Humanitarian Program<br>
released a building footprint dataset for Uganda and made it available for<br>
use in OpenStreetMap.<br>
HOT is currently preparing to import part of the building's dataset for the<br>
4 districts as part of the support to be rendered to the UBOS pilot<br>
household exercise. This will not be a blind import as the HOT team<br>
recognizes that some mapping of buildings had been previously done in<br>
certain districts.<br>

Below is a link to the OSM Wiki document detailing the process that HOT<br>
plans to deploy for the buildings import. A GitHub link to the Microsoft<br>
building's dataset is also laid out below.<br>
