I mean, if I was the one doing this, I wouldn't consider this a "finished project" until it was on the Standard (Mapnik) layer on <a href="http://openstreetmap.org">openstreetmap.org</a>, integrated into the Carto stylesheet. To be honest, I really hate not seeing the shields on <a href="http://osm.org">osm.org</a>, especially considering that the tiles for the shield renderings (and even the <a href="http://bl.ocks.org">bl.ocks.org</a> site that you mentioned) take so long to load compared to <a href="http://osm.org">osm.org</a>. This is why I really want to see you guys get it on the main map.<br>
<br>I'm sure Andy Allan would be more than willing to help you guys with this; I mean, he ported the <b>whole</b> old XML stylesheet to the new CartoCSS format. Surely he can help you do the same with the code for the shields. You should talk to him about this.<br>
<br></div><div>I commend you guys on coming this far on the shield project, just as much as I commend Andy Allan for making the Mapnik stylesheet 10 gazillion times easier to work with. I really can't wait to see them on the main map. The current "shields" look inferior to the real ones that you guys made.<br>

Yes that would be really interesting to push forward. To my mind this<br>
should be a default tile layer on <a href="http://osm.us" target="_blank">osm.us</a> (not that we have a slippy<br>
map on there today at all – but we should).<br>

I don't remember very clearly but I think my main concern is that this<br>
operates on a pre-carto Mapnik stylesheet – which would make it<br>
difficult to keep in sync with style tweaks to <a href="http://osm.org" target="_blank">osm.org</a> – and more<br>
difficult to maintain in general.<br>
