The new resource to use is likely one of <a href="http://isse.cr.usgs.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/Orthoimagery" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:underline;color:rgb(0,87,174)">these</span></a> folders. I've looked at the 1-foot imagery, and this seems to be sharper or equal quality than the Bing imagery in at least two areas.
