For example, the iD editor uses the osm-community-index (<a href="https://github.com/osmlab/osm-community-index">https://github.com/osmlab/osm-community-index</a>) to present a list of communications channels when you save a changeset. That suggests places for mappers to look if they're interested in participating more or finding others that are interested in OpenStreetMap.</div><div><br></div><div>There's a web interface to this project at <a href="https://openstreetmap.community/">https://openstreetmap.community/</a>, and you can click around there to learn more about where to go if you have questions about OpenStreetMap.</div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Oct 12, 2021 at 6:30 PM Dave Swarthout <<a href="mailto:daveswarthout@gmail.com">daveswarthout@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div>I am anti-Slack too. The proliferation of forums all over the place makes it really tricky to be realistically informed on every issue. I wish there was a way to restrict discussions to the fora managed only by OSM, not Slack, or Reddit, or whatever else people might dream up. Email lists, threaded or not, might be problematical in the sense that there is no one place where one can search for a topic of interest unless you as an individual keep all the emails generated in a particular form. Maybe there's a way to make this happen behind the scenes, I don't know.<br><br></div><div>I'm not very active in this forum but I wanted to offer my opinion on the issue. New mappers have a helluva time figuring out where is the best place to look for help. I've been mapping for almost 10 years and I am still befuddled sometimes about: Where to look or ask? What's the best place for this topic?</div></div>
