The challenge is styling the shield for appropriate display at 20-40px (depending on resolution). This means that for more intricate designs, it's often necessary to simplify the graphics and remove the black background fill for a clean, readable shield. Generally I have taken the approach of extracting the most recognizable shape of the shield and styling that for display. The ones we've completed so far are generally on the easier end of that spectrum, with less work to convert the graphics into something easy on the eyes. So in the Utah case, I would probably remove the inner detail and background, leaving just the overall beehive shape for the route marker.</div></div></div>
