i second that, with other possibilites being CC with attribution 
(BSD-like) and public domain. personally, i prefer CC with 
attribution as it eases distribution strain on anyone who wants to 
use our data set.

as i understand it the attribution can be in the documentation. if 
there was a printed version of the map it may need to carry a printed 
attribution list. but (afaik) the online version can simply point to 
a (possibly very large) web page.

by the way, we are probably _requiring_ a license to be chosen for any 
uploaded files, just to make sure the licensing situation is 100% 
clear and for auditing in case anyone tries to nuke us with a 
lawsuit.

thankfully, there is such a field in the GPX format!
