Tom
A huge landuse=field would work ok.

Elevation support is coming soon to Osmarender, so if you were to add elevation=-1 you could ensure that other features, such as playing fields, buildings, lakes, ponds, etc would get rendered on top.

Ahoy,

I'm mapping Reading University's Whiteknights campus. The entire campus is
fields, except where you have buildings and roads obviously. This is normally
represented as lots of green space on the uni maps, but blank space in online
maps.

I'd personally like it to all look lovely and green - people then know it's a
nice place to go for a stroll (access is permissive). I could just make a
huge area to cover the whole campus and mark it as something like
landuse=field (though this would get a bit silly in the countryside!) and
then overlay specific areas for playing fields, buildings, etc. Or I could
leave it all blank aside from playing fields and other more specific bits of
greenery.

Is there a convention here? I'm aware that I can just make my own custom map
once Osmarender has produced the SVG, so I'm not too bothered if it stays
blank.

Kind regards,
Tom
