Folks
The Rutland Mapping Party appears to have been a great success. There were at least half a dozen hard-core OSMers and a good number of locals dropping in from time to time over the weekend. A few even borrowed GPS units and went out to do a bit, coming back with good results.

There was lots of publicity. Andy had managed to get a poster put up in some shop windows and notice boards around the town. There were interviews on Leicester Radio and Rutland Radio. A small article in the local newspaper (Rutland Mercury) and a visit by their photographer on Sunday - so possibly a follow up feature to come.

A few photos here (sorry the quality is poor on some of them):

http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g51/80n80n/Rutland/

As far as we can tell we covered the whole of Oakham (including the not yet open by-pass), the whole of Uppingham and a good number of the villages.

Personally, I thought the weekend was great fun. Got to meet lots of other OSMers, saw some really nice countryside, enjoyed explaining OSM to members of the public and refreshed some nostalgic memories of when I lived in Rutland (too many years ago).

Finally, I'd like to than Andy and Richard who conceived the idea and did all of the planning for the weekend.

Etienne
