<P><FONT SIZE=2>There's a coincidence. See my plug for mkgmap. That does everything we need to generate maps for the current Garmin generation of USB connected 'x' devices. I've started downloading and generating Garmin maps for my own use - I could start posting them somewhere I suppose.<BR>

We probably have enough data now that many areas could usefully have Garmin<BR>
maps made of them<BR>

Reading <A HREF="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSMGarminMap">http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSMGarminMap</A> it occurs to<BR>
me that the barrier to entry for producing Garmin maps is perhaps a bit too<BR>
high for the average user.<BR>

It would be nice if we could make things a bit easier. I guess the<BR>
licensing rules of cGPSmapper probably means we cant actually produce Garmin<BR>
img files automatically, but if we could provide polish images files I think<BR>
it would help.<BR>

What I'm think of is something along the lines of tiles@home or osm@home,<BR>
so maybe polish@home :)<BR>
<BR>
Maybe even link it into osm@home ? Though would probably need some better<BR>
way of defining bounding boxes.<BR>
