If I'm following what you have said in other posts then Australia is similar to the US in that different parts<br>of a route may have a physically different kind of highway and any section of highway may be a part of<br>

many different routes. Would it be better to have a route tag instead of a ref tag? Until I saw your au I didn't realize we could have compound keys. Would that be a better way to state the route network?

</a>) that matches our simpler needs. We have tried to make it as simple as possible and logical to make it easy to remember and use. It is really up to you, as long as it is logical, you will be able to build rules for renderers to process it. We are going to try this for Australian route symbols over the next few weeks/months. We plan to make it as generic as possible so that you will be able to build in extra rules and symbols for specific countries.
